Entry-level training in dermaplaning through online theoretical learning and face-to-face practical training. Covers skin anatomy, the principles and benefits of dermaplaning, consultation, contraindications, infection control, treatment technique, risk awareness, and aftercare. Includes 8 hours online theory and 7.5 hours practical.
Course Curriculum
8 Modules
Professional Foundations, Treatment Overview & Duty Of Care
This module introduces dermaplaning as a professional exfoliation treatment. Learners will understand what dermaplaning is, how it works on the skin, why it is classed as an advanced cosmetic treatment, and the professional responsibilities involved in delivering dermaplaning safely and ethically.
Skin Anatomy, Barrier Function & Exfoliation Science
This module explores the structure of the skin, the skin barrier, and how dermaplaning works as a controlled exfoliation treatment. Learners will understand which skin layers are affected, why barrier integrity matters, and how incorrect exfoliation increases risk.
Consultation, Indications, Contraindications & Client Risk Management
This module focuses on the consultation process for dermaplaning, including identifying suitable clients, recognising contraindications, and managing risk. Learners will understand that consultation is a formal safety assessment and a key part of professional, ethical practice.
Dermaplaning Tools, Blade Safety & Treatment Parameters
This module focuses on the tools used in dermaplaning, including blades and handles, and explains correct blade safety, handling, and treatment parameters. Learners will understand how correct tool use and controlled technique reduce risk and ensure safe, effective dermaplaning treatments.
Infection Control, Skin Reactions & Complication Management
This module focuses on infection control, hygiene standards, expected skin reactions, and the recognition and management of complications related to dermaplaning treatments.
Aftercare, Healing Timelines & Client Support
This module focuses on post‑treatment care, normal healing responses, and the practitioner’s responsibility to support clients following dermaplaning. Learners will understand how correct aftercare reduces risk, supports skin recovery, and protects professional outcomes.
Case Studies, Treatment Planning & Applied Dermaplaning Practice
This module focuses on applying dermaplaning knowledge to real‑world scenarios. Learners will develop treatment‑planning skills, understand how to adapt dermaplaning to different skin presentations, and apply professional judgement to ensure safe, ethical outcomes.
Reflective Practice, CPD & Course Completion
This final module focuses on reflective practice, professional responsibility, and continuing professional development (CPD). Learners will consolidate their knowledge, reflect on their learning, and understand their responsibilities when performing dermaplaning treatments in professional practice.
