Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about enrolment, studying, assessments, certificates, payments, and how Rose Skin Academy fits into your professional journey.
Entry Requirements
It depends on the course. Our Foundation Knowledge courses — Anatomy & Physiology and Advanced Client Consultation — are open to anyone with a genuine interest in aesthetics. Core and Advanced courses such as Dermaplaning, Chemical Peels, Microneedling, and Skin Boosters require a Level 2 or Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification, or an equivalent healthcare background. Each course page lists its specific entry requirements.
There is no single statutory licence for most aesthetic treatments in the UK. Entry requirements are set by the training provider, your insurer, and in some cases your local authority. In practice: foundation theory courses have no prerequisites; hands-on skin treatments generally require Level 2 or Level 3 Beauty Therapy or a healthcare background; and injectable treatments usually require Level 3 plus prior needling experience.
Yes, for foundation theory courses — Anatomy & Physiology, Skin Analysis, and Advanced Client Consultation have no entry requirements. Hands-on treatment courses require a Level 2 or Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification or a healthcare background first. Starting with foundation theory is a common and sensible route in.
Level 2 covers the core practical foundations: facials, waxing, manicure and pedicure, basic skin knowledge, and salon health and safety. Level 3 goes considerably deeper into skin science, electrical treatments and advanced facial work, and includes a stronger anatomy and physiology component. Because advanced aesthetics builds on that anatomy knowledge, Level 3 is the more common prerequisite for treatments that breach the skin barrier.
Generally no. If you are a registered nurse, doctor, dentist, dental nurse, paramedic or pharmacist, your clinical training normally satisfies the anatomy and physiology requirement and we can accept you onto advanced courses directly. What healthcare professionals often benefit from is the aesthetic-specific layer: consultation for cosmetic rather than clinical outcomes, skin typing, and treatment planning.
Microneedling at Rose Skin Academy is offered as entry-level training. Requirements vary between providers and, more importantly, between insurers. Always confirm with your own insurer before booking, because their acceptance criteria determine whether you can actually practise afterwards.
These are our most advanced courses. They require a recognised Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification plus a minimum of six months' experience in microneedling and/or semi-permanent makeup. This is because both treatments depend on needle-handling competence that cannot be built from scratch in a single course.
Yes. If you are unsure whether you meet the entry requirements for a course, contact us before booking and we will tell you honestly — including if the answer is that you need a different course first. We would rather redirect you than take payment for training you cannot yet use.
CPD & Accreditation
Our accredited courses carry CPD (Continuing Professional Development) hours, displayed on each course page. They range from 7 hours for focused online training to 18.5 hours for our most comprehensive programmes. Emotional Intelligence for Aesthetic Practitioners is separate educational professional development and is not CPD-accredited.
CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. Accreditation means an independent body has reviewed the course against defined standards — learning outcomes, content quality, assessment method, trainer credentials — and assigned it a verified number of CPD hours reflecting genuine guided learning time.
No, and this distinction matters. CPD accreditation is not a regulated qualification and does not sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework alongside Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 awards. CPD sits on top of a primary qualification such as Level 3 Beauty Therapy rather than replacing it.
CPD-accredited certificates give insurers a dated, independently verified record of your training, which makes the conversation considerably easier. But we cannot guarantee cover — insurers set their own acceptance criteria and can decline training they do not recognise. We strongly recommend confirming with your insurer before you book any course.
CPD hours reflect total guided learning time, not just video runtime. That includes theory study, assessment, and supervised practical work. This is why a blended course with a face-to-face practical day carries substantially more CPD hours than an online-only course covering the same treatment.
It depends on scope. Online-only theory courses typically carry 8 to 11 CPD hours. Blended courses that include a face-to-face practical day usually carry 15 to 19 hours. Be cautious of any hands-on treatment course claiming high CPD hours with no practical component.
Yes. Every certificate carries a unique number in the format RS-YYYY-NNNNN and a QR code linking to a public verification page on our site. Anyone can enter the number to confirm the certificate is genuine, who it was issued to, and which course it covers.
Practical Training
We are at 65 Sackville Road, Hove, BN3 3WE — in the City of Brighton and Hove, East Sussex. Online theory can be completed from anywhere, and face-to-face practical training days take place at our Hove academy. We train practitioners from across East and West Sussex, Surrey, Kent and London.
Dermaplaning, Chemical Peels, Microneedling, Skin Boosters, Polynucleotides, and Laser Hair Removal & Skin Rejuvenation are available as combined theory-and-practical packages. Anatomy & Physiology, Skin Analysis, Advanced Client Consultation, Complications in Aesthetic Practice, and The Real You Method™ Practitioner Training do not have a separate practical-day price.
Yes — that is exactly how our blended courses work. You complete the online theory at your own pace, then attend a practical day once you have finished. Each course page shows the online theory price and the combined theory-and-practical price.
We do not recommend it, and we do not offer it for treatment courses. You cannot learn needling depth, peel application or blade angle from a video — those are learned by doing them under supervision, with a trainer correcting your technique in real time. Be cautious of any provider selling hands-on treatments as online-only.
We are on Sackville Road in Hove, a few minutes from Hove station, with Brighton station a short hop away. There are direct rail links from Worthing, Lewes, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne and Hastings, and London Victoria is around an hour. Most students across Sussex, Surrey, Kent and south London attend as a day trip without staying overnight.
Contact us to confirm the arrangement for the specific course and date you are considering. This is a reasonable question to ask any training provider, and one you should get a straight answer to before booking.
Getting Started
Browse the course catalogue, select the course you would like to study, and enrol securely through Stripe. You do not need an account first — your student portal is created automatically when you purchase, and you will receive an email with a link to set your password.
Yes. Add as many courses as you like to your basket and check out in one transaction. Each appears separately in your student dashboard with its own progress tracking.
No. You can check out as a guest and your account is created automatically once payment succeeds. You will receive an email with a secure link to set your password and access the student portal.
If you are new to aesthetics, start with Anatomy & Physiology — it is the knowledge base every other course assumes you have. If you are already qualified and adding a treatment, go directly to that course. If you are unsure, contact us and we will recommend a pathway based on your existing qualifications and goals.
There are no free standalone courses at present. Standard online theory courses start at £99. The Complete 10-Course Pathway includes The Real You Method™ Practitioner Training as a £499 bonus.
Your access does not expire. Once enrolled, you can revisit the content, retake quizzes, and refer back to the material for as long as you need — which is useful when you return to a treatment after a gap.
Studying & Assessments
Absolutely. Our online learning platform is available 24/7, so you can study whenever it suits you. There are no deadlines for completing theory modules, and you can revisit content as many times as you need.
Each module includes a short quiz to reinforce your learning, and you must pass it to complete the module. Modules unlock in sequence as you progress. Once you have completed every module in a course, you will sit a timed final exam. The pass mark is 80%.
You can retake it. There is no additional charge and no limit that prevents you re-sitting after revising. We would rather you took the exam three times and genuinely understood the material than passed once by luck.
Course lengths vary. Online-only courses range from 8–11 CPD hours, Core Skin Treatment courses are approximately 15.5–16.5 CPD hours, and Advanced courses range from 15.5–18.5 CPD hours. Since you study at your own pace, the calendar time is entirely up to you.
Yes. Modules unlock in sequence, which keeps the theory and assessments in the right learning order. Complete the required content and pass each module quiz to unlock the next module. You can sit the final exam after every module is complete.
Any modern device with a web browser — laptop, tablet or phone. The platform is fully responsive, so you can read theory on a phone between clients and complete quizzes on a laptop later.
Yes. You can contact the academy directly with questions about course material at any point during your studies.
Certificates
On passing the final exam, you will receive a Rose Skin Academy certificate with a unique certificate number (e.g. RS-2026-00001). Your certificate includes a QR code that links to a public verification page, so employers and insurers can confirm its authenticity.
Immediately. Your certificate is generated automatically the moment you pass the final exam and is available to download as a PDF from your student dashboard straight away.
Yes. All your certificates remain available in the Certificates section of your student dashboard indefinitely, and can be re-downloaded whenever you need them.
The certificate itself does not expire — it records that you completed the training on a given date. However, insurers often expect to see recent, ongoing CPD rather than training completed many years ago, so continuing professional development remains important.
Payments & Refunds
Online course checkout is handled securely by Stripe, which accepts all major debit and credit cards. Any practical training or bespoke payment arrangement is confirmed directly by the academy.
We offer a 14-day refund policy from the date of purchase, provided you have not completed more than 25% of the course content. Please contact us at roseskinbrighton@outlook.com to request a refund.
Standard online theory courses are £99, with Laser Hair Removal & Skin Rejuvenation theory at £199. Theory-and-practical training ranges from £349 to £999. Multi-course bundles start at £799, and the complete 10-course pathway is £2,799 with The Real You Method practitioner training included as a £499 bonus.
A practical day involves a trainer's full day, clinic space, consumables, and a small student-to-trainer ratio so you get genuine individual correction. That is the part of the training that cannot be scaled, and it is where most of the cost sits.
Contact the academy to discuss payment arrangements for the combined theory-and-practical packages. We will tell you what is possible for the course you are interested in.
